Reasons Why Ringtones are a Huge Industry
16 01 2012As more and more people discover more pleasing and entertaining free mp3 ringtones than what they usually have on their mobile phones which gets pretty boring soon, the chances of having the same ringtone with your classmates, officemates, or friends is high. For this reason alone, many individuals find themselves update their ringtone lists based on a whim or what the billboard music charts tell them is hot that week and show-off to others as the best among the rest. Why did ringtones became such a popular industry? There is one very simple explanation: the ringtones that most, if not all, mobile phones come with from the manufacturer are just not that great. Just think default settings on this one. It is usually difficult task to search through your new phone and find a ringtone that is tolerable, let alone one that you might actually enjoy hearing.
To attempt to remedy this situation, some mobile phone manufacturers programmed their phone that allows users to create their own ringtones. But really, who has time for that? Why make your own ringtone, which will consume hours of trying to figure out the technology and then starting over every time you make a mistake, when you can get almost anything online? The time that will be used in creating a ringtone of your own can actually make up to a hundred of downloads of all-new ringtones from the net. There is infinite possibility of downloading just about anything imaginable as your ringtone. Would you like to hear clucking chickens in order to know that your mother in law is calling? It can be done. Do you want to hear bodily noises like a loud fart or burp, just to see the reactions on other people’s faces when your phone rings? That can be done too. Do you want to drive your best friend insane with the horribly composed polyphonic version of his favourite song? It’s so bad that it is good, and it can be done. You can get ringtones that tell you jokes, ringtones that call you by name, ringtones that call the caller bad names, ringtones that tell you who is calling, ringtones that play your favourite song, ringtones that play the songs you grew up to… there is no end to the possibilities. With the present technology, anyone can think as wild as they can, think outside of the box.
The market is so big because you can literally get pretty much anything you want and there are lots of businesses who have found their niche in the market and do pretty well specializing in Redneck ringtones or Calls of the Wild. Although there are sites that give-out ringtones for free, they still get money from it from advertisements or from ISPs. While there are those people who prefer great and high-quality ringtones, paid ringtone sites are there too to cater their needs as well.
Bottom line is now that these more enticing free ringtones have been around for several years; more and more people are discovering them and would want something like them into their phones too. Thus with the increase in demand comes the increase of supply.
